Shrove Tuesday at Create-a-Brand
Posted by Admin at 19:29 on 21 February 2012
A little under a year ago, we celebrated Pancake Day by creating a number of animal-shaped designs, which went down rather well. So as Shrove Tuesday fast approached us this year, thoughts turned to how to outdo 2011. Lou started by creating famous buildings in pancake form.

This one is apparently based on Sydney Opera House, though we are not sure it would get planning permission. However, it was not long until our competitive instincts took over, when Tessa stated that she could toss her pancake higher than everyone else.
This led to the whole team having a go, even going as far as choosing different locations to give them a competitive advantage.

Si took this the furthest, realising that if he stood at the highest point in Clay Coton, then technically his pancake would be the furthest from the ground, although this tactic was eventually thrown out due to popular demand. Meanwhile Dan just chose to levitate his above the frying pan, which gave him extra marks for style.

Unfortunately our web designer Mark, being in Cumbria, could not join in with our competition, so instead he challenged himself to see how many pancakes he could eat in one sitting. We last heard from him at 20...

It was eventually decided that Archie had won the competition, with Neil and Tessa joint second.

Meanwhile Sav was lumbered with wooden spoon award, for being the only one to drop his pancake on the ground. Unfortunately for him, this was caught on camera by Neil.

We hope that all of you have enjoyed your day as much as we have, and we wish everyone a very happy Shrove Tuesday.
Team building
Posted by Admin at 18:25 on 17 February 2012
Last week was a memorable one for Create-a-Brand, as we worked to produce a pitch for a global advertising company to present. The pitch was to secure a massive job - promoting a multi-billion dollar infrastructure building process over the next decade in a Middle Eastern Country. We cannot give specific details, but the workload was intense – three separate campaign strategies were required, plus television ad concepts and scripts plus storyboards, billboard posters, a DM piece, press ads and separate bespoke websites, all with original look, feel and copy individual to the stages in question.
The team managed to complete it all over the space of four and a half days and nights, with little sleep, many cups of coffee and tea, one or two ‘firm and frank exchanges of opinion’, fish and chips, a fantastic hamper kindly provided by Sav’s mum, and the occasional medicinal bottle of beer.
Lego mini-figures were forthcoming at strategic moments in order to soothe fevered brows and incentivise the workers. As an unexpected bonus to the week’s work, Archie now has the complete Lego Series 6.
As a blue Lego genie (complete with turban and lamp) beamed on approvingly, the final pieces of work were dispatched safely into the ether on Saturday afternoon. The project had only come to Create-Brand’s attention eight days previously and go ahead was only given on the Tuesday evening.
The client was delighted and the pitch was presented this week to no less than the Crown Prince of the country in question. We have our fingers crossed for success for our client. Now we just have to stop dreaming about trains, platforms, tracks, etc.
